75% of Facebook Page Engagement Occurs Within 5 Hours

Some interesting statistics from a recent Wise Metrics study:

  • 75 percent of engagement with Facebook page posts occurs during their first five hours of existence.
  • Impressions reach 75 percent of their eventual totals within two hours and 30 minutes of post time.
  • And 75 percent of pages’ audiences see their posts in one hour and 50 minutes.
  • It takes approximately 30 minutes for posts to hit their halfway marks in terms of global reach.

A few comments here. Firstly, this study was produced by a company whose products are tailored around the idea of timing reach – so it’s of course in their interest to find and report figures like this. Secondly, Facebook has publicly stated that they are working to surface older posts that have higher engagement – so it’s unclear whether this 75% figure will continue to hold moving forward.

However, it is good practice for any Page content producer to monitor types and times of content delivery to see what works best for their audience. So consider this another piece of information to spur you to do just that.
